Teach Your dog to ring a bell to go out !!

When ever my dog has to go out to do his business he rings a bell !! It made my life so easier.no more accidents in the house. It only took me a week to teach him do this and wanted to share with you guys hoping it would help others too :-)


First depending on the size of your dog you have to choose a right size bell. Attach the bell to a rope long enough that your dog can reach it with his nose. Now hang the bell to your door knob.

Start by taking your dog out as you always do, but this time ring the bell before letting him out and use a key word like "Lets go pee pee" . You want your dog to associate the bell to going out for pee. Repeat this technique every time you take him out for the next two days.

Once your dog gets used to this bell, Its time for him to get used to ringing the bell !! This time instead of you ringing the bell, take his paw and make him ring the bell and use the same key word again and let him out. Keep repeating this technique until your dog starts ringing the bell on his own pretty soon !!
It gets much easier for people with multiple dogs as they tend to learn better from each other..When we got our second dog..we had to show him only once to ring the bell..he saw what my other dog was doing and instantly picked it up :-)
