Birmingham, AL - On Monday, an amazing little dog, with painful, debilitating injuries, made his way home after weeks on his own.
Mason, a terrier mix, was thrown from his North Smithfield home on April 27 - the date when wicked tornadoes tore through the area.
Mason was horribly injured in the storm - he has two badly broken legs - breaks that made walking nearly impossible.
He literally had to crawl to make his way home.
But Mason did just that. Two and a half weeks after he disappeared, he showed back up to his badly damaged home. His owners were at the house on Monday - coming back to sift through their devastated home.
Imagine their astonishment when they found their dog - a dog that was presumed to be gone - sitting there waiting for them.
Sadly, Mason's family is unable to care for him - their lives too badly damaged in the storms. The family asked the Birmingham-Jefferson County Animal Control Shelter to take him in.
Mason's badly broken legs require extensive treatment - something this little miracle dog is going to receive thanks to a generous offer by the Vulcan Park Animal Care Clinic.
The vet clinic, working with the shelter, intends to piece Mason back together - if his family is able to take him back when he has healed, they will be able to.
If they are not able to give him a home, the shelter is confident that they can find him a loving family.
