Do Boxer's get along well with cats ????

My cousin is thinking about having us take care of her cat for a week while she goes away on vacation. My boxer, Salo, hasn't really been around cats much and hasn't spent time with my cousin's cat before... Any tips or ideas? How would your boxer dogs react?

Of course I'll give them a short test run together, but I'm still a bit nervous about the whole situation...

    Thanks all!

It all depends on the individual dog and how strong his prey drive is. Friends of ours, who have a Boxer, also have a cat and they seem to get along well. I think for safety reasons once you get the cat do not leave him to roam the house when the your dog is inside. It would not be a good thing.

I would introduce the two before accepting the task of watching the cat. I would make sure your boxer is on a leash and well supervised. If there is any friction. I would be very cautious. And I agree if you do keep the cat, I would make sure the boxer & cat are no left alone together. Good Luck!

Well it depends on the type of dog. My dogs get along well with my cat. In fact here is a photo of them all drinking water together. Some times the dogs do play alittle ruff but a cat can stand up for its self. I seen a lady at the park with a german shepard. She has 2 cats and they get along well with her dog. Boxers I think it would depend on its temperment. Dogs day of torture 016.jpg

if you were keeping the cat, id say they will learn to get on eventually, we bought our {at the time} 2 & half yr old staffy into our home with 2 cats & now they love each other.
