1. Name of the shelter or rescue center
PugHearts of Houston
2. Why are you interested in this shelter / rescue center
I am owned by a pug and that got me interested in organizations rescuing pugs. I came across this rescue when researching the same. I have met Cindy who is the "heart" behind the rescue multiple times and have been deeply touched by her selfless service. They are always in need of financial help given the huge number of pugs they rescue.
3. A short description about the shelter
Pug Hearts of Houston Pug Rescue is a true non-profit charity founded in the Houston area by dedicated pug owners and lovers. Their mission is the rescue, rehabilitation and permanent placement of needy pugs into loving homes.

I too would like to nominate PugHearts Pug Rescue.
My husband and I got involved with the rescue when it began because we were "owned" by our pugs Turq, Bear & Moose. We are not a shelter, meaning we don't have a building that houses our dogs, all of our dogs are fostered within homes. For the last year or so, we've had to board a number of the dogs at our vet because the pugs are coming in at faster rate then they are being adopted out unfortunately. Our vet bill is our largest expense and this is what we need the funds for.
I love PugHearts. PugHearts is more than a rescue group - they are family. Our pugs remain part of our family no matter where their forever home may be. We pride ourselves on making sure the dogs go the the right home for them - and because of this, many of our adoptive families remain in contact, attend our events, send us updates, etc.
With nearly 100 foster pugs, and a waiting list to get in, we are in serious need of help. Please consider us!

Pug hearts!!!!
1. Name of Rescue: Pug Hearts of Houston
2. Why are you interested in this shelter / rescue center?
I am interested because this rescue organization is operated through volunteers only and has been able to rescue 615 PUGS SINCE FEBRUARY 2007!. They take the hard cases with heavy medical expenses to the cute little puppies & find them homes where they will find the love & care they so deserve. It is truly remarkable that a web of volunteers who work full time & have families are able to rescue 200 dogs per year in addition fund raising year round. This is an amazing organization with fantastic leadership that makes a difference every minute of every day. We would all be remiss to not acknowledge & respect the incredible effort that is made by Pug Hearts to save so many dogs from the desperate situation that irresponsible people have put them in. I can not think of a more deserving organization.
3. A short description about the shelter
Pug Hearts is a non-profit pug rescue in Houston that after rescuing the dog, bringing it them up to date on vaccinations and giving them any other needed medical care they find loving homes for each and every one. Until dogs are adopted they are placed with volunteer foster parents. Extensive checks are done on perspective dog owners interested in adopting in order to ensure that the dog is placed in the very best home where any and all their needs are met.

I want to nominate Pughearts, Houston Pug Rescue. Headed up by a totally dedicated group of folks, this foster-driven organization has successfully placed in forever homes close to 50 dogs since Feb. 2007. During a time when there are unbelievable numbers of dogs showing up as strays, puppy mill rejects, and owner turn in, Pughearts has continued to work to find loving homes for the many pugs we are taking in. They pay for all medical expenses, microchipping, and spay and neutering. There is a large network of foster available to provide stable homes while our dogs wait for that final forever home. I used to foster for other shelters and rescue organizations. None were as good as Pughearts.

PugHearts is the BEST!
1. Name of the shelter or rescue center
PugHearts of Houston
2. Why are you interested in this shelter / rescue center
This is a rescue started by an amazing woman, Cindy, who wanted to try and make the world a better place for our canine companions who make the world a better place for us on a daily basis. She never turns away a dog in need, pug or not. The rescue saves hundreds of dogs every year and takes care of all their medical needs to make sure they are healthy and happy puggies before they are even allowed to be adopted by a deserving family. These are just some of the wonderful things that make me really respect this rescue.
3. A short description about the shelter
PugHearts of Houston Pug Rescue is a true non-profit charity founded in the Houston area by dedicated pug owners and lovers. Their mission is the rescue, rehabilitation and permanent placement of needy pugs into loving homes.
Because PugHearts takes care of all their foster's health needs, from deworming, spay/neutering, heartworm treatment for many of the pugs who come to them heartworm positive, treating mange, fixing broken bones, the list goes on and on, PugHearts has quite the vet bill. Their amazingly selfless vet and his staff help as much as they can, but PugHearts always needs help paying him for his services so he in turn can pay his staff and continue to run his clinic successfully in order to continue taking care of all the pugs and his other patients.
PugHearts could really use this money to help out in this area of trying to maintain their own "operating costs" if you will. Being a non-profit organization of any kind means you and your volunteers are dedicated and give of their own personal resources willingly because the volunteers are personally invested in this cause and give their own money, time, and share their families and homes all out of the goodness of their hearts. This type of kindness only goes so far in a world driven by money. If the world profited on sweat, tears, and love alone, PugHearts would be a Fortune 500 company with the most loyal and dedicated employees you've ever seen. They need this monitary help and they really deserve it.

I wish to nominate PugHearts as well. This is an extremely well run organization with deeply caring volunteers. The concept that every pug (or nearly-a-pug?) deserves to be taken care of and loved no matter what age, is a sincere love for these dogs and the rehabilitation and change that this organization makes in those dogs' lives is incredible. I am fortunate to have the most wonderful 4 yr old blind pug who was already taught by PugHearts to respond to "up" and "down" when out walking and confronted with steps. These dogs respond to love and it is obvious that the name of this non-profit - "PugHearts" - is a fitting monument to what they do! I feel very fortunate to be associated with them. 1. Name of the shelter or rescue center
Pug Hearts of Houston
2. Why are you interested in this shelter / rescue center
I have owned pugs for 27 years and I can't imagine life without them. I have been involved with Pug Hearts for several years and they are an amazing group of dedicated Pug lovers, who are truly a rescue group with 100% integrity and heart.
3. A short description about the shelter
Pugs hearts is an great organization, well managed by Cindy and run with the help all of the other dedicated volunteers. Every effort is made to save every pug that comes through the doors. The fostering program is awesome and I have been privileged to be a part of that for several years. Extensive background checks go into every adoption. Fund raisers are held throughout the year to help defray the vet bills that accumulate with so many dogs being rescued. $3000.00 towards these expenses would help Pug Hearts continue their efforts. Nominate Pug Hearts of Houston.
I love pugs and this organization really cares about all pugs and their welfare.
It is a group of people that foster pugs in their homes not matter health or conditions of pugs.
